araba

she was at a friend's birthday party, her mom had called and told her to come home as early as possible, her uncle had just come to stay at their house. she wanted to stay at the party so badly, all of her close friends were there and she hadn't seen some of them for quite a long time. she finished her drink and she saw a friend whom she's been waiting to see all day waving at her.. but she had to leave so she got up, took her things and said goodbye to the others. she walked towards him, kissed him on the cheeks and asked him to walk her to the bus stop. before leaving, she hugged the birthday girl and again wished her a 'happy happy year'. they left the place, chatting. there were two bus stops near to where they were and the girl picked the closer one. they were walking uphill and they came to the crosswalk. it was a two-way road and in between there was a pedestrian island. carefully they crossed the road and stepped on the island. they were chatting as they waited for the green light, they were safe and one metre away from the carway. the girl was looking at the boy as the boy's head suddenly turned towards the road. as she turned to see what caught the boy's attention, the boy pulled him backwards. simultaneously, she saw a metallic-grey car driving very, very fast and as if driving towards them. she was watching the car, wondering how close the car will get, as she felt a sharp, deep pain on her foot. she kept on watching the car, turning her head to see where the car will stop or whether it will stop at all. as her friend asked her whether she was fine, she didn't stop looking at the car and answered 'my bones, they are broken.' she grasped her friend's shoulder as she said loudly 'please look at the car, please do see the plate number, please'. then she looked at her friend who was now pulling her towards the road. she then saw a bunch of men walking from the bus stop towards them. they stopped the cars and with everyone's help she slowly walked and sat on the bench at the stop. then she heard a man apologizing and turned to look at him, she realized it was the man who drove the grey car. she yelled and yelled some more.

at the hospital, they cut her socks with a pair of scissors. her foot, leftie, looked horrible. it was nearly twice as big as her right foot, it was snow white at the toes and swollen everywhere. she moaned and then laughed. it was a thing to be seen. after the x-rays, doctors told her two of her metatarsal bones were broken. she moaned and then again she laughed heartily. she took off her earrings as they told her she had to stay at the hospital for the night. they told her they were going to decide whether she would have a surgery in the morning and now she waited. and, in pain, she waited.

she didn't sleep at all but, in the morning, she was happy, she was not going to be operated. and she got the painkillers.
